VocalMotion, the show choir sponsored by SAS, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a stage show that features the best songs from previous seasons. Admission to the show is free, but the audience is invited to make a donation to www.DonorsChoose.org. VocalMotion’s performances are Thursday and Friday, Feb. 23 and 24, at 7 p.m.; two shows on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m., in the Building V auditorium on the SAS campus.
 
Part of our Lucy’s Book Club public outreach program, Bookmarked! celebrates the special joys of reading with children and will feature public readings by local “celebrity-heroes” and fun activities at venues including Marbles Kids Museum, Barnes and Noble Booksellers at Brier Creek and the North Carolina Museum of History; a book fair at Quail Ridge Books; and a Family Fun Concert featuring live children’s music (including the band Sandbox) at The Green at North Hills. Our featured author this year is Audrey Penn, creator of the beloved Chester Raccoon picture books and the exciting “Mystery at Blackbeard’s Cove” chapter books for older kids. Yum Brands franchisor Luihn Food Systems today presented Children’s Flight of Hope with a check for more than $10,000, which their employees and customers donated during a four week fundraiser in 85 KFC and Taco Bell locations. Children’s Flight of Hope provides free, private air transportation to those children who are seriously ill or injured, who cannot travel any other way. With the help of this fundraiser, Children’s Flight of Hope will be able to continue providing excellent service to hundreds of children and families.
