To Bring in the New Year, TheBeltlineBuzz wanted to introduce three New Businesses worthy of our attention. Let's start by focusing on the men in our lives. They need to stay trendy... but at the same time look like they didn't try. McKenzie Tribe, an offshoot of Vince's successful Silverado leather apparel line, is establishing its "Flagship" Retail Store at North Hills. It is the ultimate, casual sportswear collection! ... urban sophistication with a country gentleman's bent. There's Denim through Khaki and variations on the five pocket jean. French oiled leathers, suede-trimmed Italian wool and cashmere sport coats, Scottish tweeds. Knits, wovens, sweaters and fleece ... all with an abundance of color. There is no menswear line which combines the look and functionality like McKenzie Tribe.
Didn't get what you wanted from old Saint Nick this holiday? Don't get your stockings in a knot. Come on over to Cute Buttons Gift and Paper Boutique to see what goodies they have in store.
Many of their cute wares are on sale as they get ready to bring in new inventory over the next few months. Holiday goodies including stationery and greeting cards are all 40% off!
Cute Buttons is located at 312 West Chatham St. Suite 203, in downtown Cary. You can phone in orders too. Mention TheBeltlineBuzz and receive an additional 20% off of one item (excluding custom stationery and designer stamps).
If you just can't get yourself out of those comfy pj's and only want to shop on-line, then you need to visit The Poppy Seed. http://www.atouchofsocialcharm.com
An Internet store with a great collection of bags for monogramming, jewelry to engrave, and all sorts of gifts for birthdays, weddings, bridesmaids, and much more. They are based out of Bunn, NC and will process your order in less than 24 hours. The prices are very reasonable. This backpack is only $20! So ... happy shopping!

Calling All NC Artists... Young & Old
The 2009 NC Artists Exhibition deadline to submit entries is almost here. Jan. 5th is the last date to send in your applications to be considered for this prestigious exhibit.
For the second year in a row, the exhibition will be held at the Betty Ray McCain Gallery (the downstairs lobby and back hallways of Meymandi Concert Hall) at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. Thousands of people will view this show as they attend the NC Symphony and many other concerts at Meymandi Hall. It was such a huge success last year at this location that the City of Raleigh asked the sponsor, Raleigh Fine Arts Society, to extend the exhibit dates for an additional month! Therefore, the show will run from March 1 to May 3, 2009.
The prospectus (with all the details for artists to follow) is on line at www.raleighfinearts.org. It is easy to download and easy to apply now that digital images are accepted.
So tell those great NC artists that you know... apply! What do they have to lose? It will be an honor to have the juror, Dr. Kimerly Rorschach, Director of the Nasher Museum of Art critiquing their works. Prize money is not bad either! ($6000 of cash awards) Please forward this reminder to all the wonderful NC artists that you know!
This is a great exhibit and we hope that many of you plan to attend.

The Bargain Buzz Wannit? ....
Come'n Get It!
For the Budding Artists in your family...Here's a super after school activity. Art Classes called "Directed Painting." Children learn to draw, transfer their drawing to canvas and then create a finished acrylic painting in 3 sessions of 1 1/2 hours. The children leave with a completed painting and a raised sense of accomplishment and self-esteem. Plus, they have FUN, just being creative, meeting new friends or reconnecting with old buddies in a relaxed setting. These art classes are taught in the late afternoons, in a home studio for students in grades 1- 8. Contact Cathy Monaghan at ccmonaghan@earthlink.net. 512 Hillandale Dr. Raleigh, NC 27609. (919) 881-3149.

I'm looking for a good upholsterer who can handle very nice fabric to use on a chair. I also need someone who can upholster a wall. If you know of a skilled person who does this type of 'high-end' work please reply to:mpz@nc.rr.com.
Baby Sitters List: A request from our subscribers: TheBeltlineBuzz is putting together a Baby Sitters List. Please send us information if you know of someone who would like to be on this referring list, so that we can help parents who are desperately in need of a sitter. And YES, we need references! It's always much more comforting to know the character of an individual and their work ethic when it comes to having someone watch their priceless loved ones. Go to www.thebeltlinebuzz.com click on "articles" and submit your baby-sitting info. (Name, phone, email, references), and any other pertinent information.

TheBeltlineBuzz items are selected by our editors.
No one can pay to be featured on TheBeltlineBuzz. That's what advertising is for, and it's always labeled as such. Selling ourselves (literally) would destroy the legitimacy, integrity, and fun of TheBeltlineBuzz. Plus, we'd never earn your trust that way. So we'll never make a dime off your meal at a restaurant nor a penny from the sale of the latest accessory we told you about.
That said, on occasion, we will send out "Dedicated" e-mails on behalf of sponsors. You'll recognize them from the subject line: "TheBeltlineBuzz Dedicated E-mail." Yes, these are paid for. And, no, we would never sell our subscriber list to anyone. Not for any amount of money.
We hope that you continue to enjoy your BeltlineBuzz. We look forward to delivering it.
